DoNE WiTH THirD YeAr!!!!

After finishing the OB/GYN test this morning,
I am officially a fourth year medical student!!!

Yay! They say fourth year is "the best year of your life." I guess I'll find out. Right now it doesn't look that way. It looks pretty stressful... I start my senior surgery rotation 8 hours after we get back from vacation in WA. One week later I am taking the Clinical Skills board exam. Two weeks after that I take the clinical knowlege part of the USMLE boards Step 2. Meanwhile, I have to get at least three letters of recommendation, write my personal statement, apply for residency programs in August and September, keep up with my rotations, ....then in November start interviewing for residency. Fun??? Doesn't sound like it. :) But, we'll see. I do have a few exciting things planned- like doing a surgery rotation in Seattle (which will probably be stressful!!!) , and hopefully one in Wisconsin or Arizona.

So, I am trying to keep myself from getting in vacation mode too much right away... I have a lot to get done before we leave for Washington on Wednesday. And, the more I get the done, the more ease of mind I will have while on vacation (I will relax no matter what, though!!! )...and I will have less stress when I return. Here is the start of my to do list for the next four days.

1. Pack for vacation
2. Buy new windshield wipers for my car
3. Finish mowing the lawn
4. Make a list of residency programs I am interested in
5. Write my personal statement
6. Do 800 questions online to study for Step 2, make notecards to study
(I can already tell you that that probably won't happen, but I am going to do my best)

7. Clean my room/the house
8. Figure out bills for the last year with Miranda
9. Pay my bills
10. Stay sane...
Better get started....!

Hey Tab! Congratulations on finishing your third year. Good luck finishing everything on your list before your vacation. Don't forget to add hospitals in Portland to your residency list :) Have fun in Washington - maybe I'll see you at Christmas.
