Yes, I am still alive...

... but my creativity is sorely lacking... medical school is not conducive to my left brain!

I had an awesome weekend in Kentucky with Forrest, Kristy, Jen, Miranda, Robeson, and Amanda at the Global Health Missions Conference. We got to listen to amazing stories ... and learn lots of things- from how to help orphans and vulnerable children and planning overseas electives to living the gospel in medicine. There were over 2500 people at the conference. It was a lot of fun... and now I have a lot to think about... and not much time.

The rest of the semester is going to be very busy... definitely. I have a pathology test this friday, OSCEs on Monday, and a Micro Quiz and Wednesday. Then, just finals are left!!! Yeah!!

On a certain school, in a certain place...

Vehicles have the right-away. This means, cars do not stop; you stop.

Failure to follow such a mandate is not only harmful to your health, but you will also rack up

50 more demerits. (fyi 75d= no talking to girls or others with 75d; 100d= no leaving campus; 150d= pack your bags and go home)

If a girl hits you, do not go whining to anyone. You just got 25d for touching girl.

The president made an announcement that couples in various areas on campus were causing

people to gag because they sit there and stare at each other about 1" apart. So if you are one of these couples and someone comes by and gags, you need to extend the distance between you and you girl to 1'. Believe me some people will really make you gag.

I added to my movies-I-don't-like list this weekend! :) Miranda and I watched the movie "Dave" Friday night after the CMA cookout. It was semi-funny, but it was all about some guy who ended up as a stand-in as a president. And, I had a revelation- I have don't recall watching a movie about a fictitous president that I really liked. So, here is my updated list of not-favorite movies:

1. Horror movies/ scary (too much imagination... everything is scary afterward. Plus, it is no fun to watch a movie with my eyes closed and ears plugged. :D Of course, these would not be so bad if I had somebody to squeeze every time I got scared.)

2. Natural Disaster movies (volcano, tornado, frozen ice overtaking the world). They are all the same.

3. Presidential movies...

Anyway, back to lymphomas!

True ER Story

A 28-year old male was brought into the ER after an attempted suicide. Theman had swallowed several nitroglycerin pills and a fifth of vodka. When askedabout the bruises about his head and chest he said that they were from himramming himself into the wall in an attempt to make the nitroglycerin explode.

My brain undergoing rapid atrophic dystrophy, agenesis, encephalopathy, and necrosis. (i.e. the brain sponge is full... the more that I absorb, the more stuff that leaks out... maybe it will all just spill out on the test tomorrow... if there is anything left of my brain by then...that would be really disgusting...hehe!)

The Weekend

Well, the weekend was as great as it could be with a test coming up on Tuesday. :) My sister Chandra came up Friday evening and Jen, Amanda, Miranda, Faith, Chandra and I all dressed up for the Law School/ Med. School/ Business School Halloween Party. These were our costumes: Jen- Mexican; Amanda: Poodle Skirt girl; Miranda: Go-Go Girl; Chandra- Indian (from India); Faith- cute maid; me- Fairy Princess. (pictures coming soon!).

The party was ok- It was the first time I had been to a costume party and there were lots of funny (and some very sketchy costumes). I had fun- but it was so loud it was hard to talk. :(

Saturday- I got up early to study for a few hours then Chandra and I drove to Greenville to go to my old college roomate's wedding. We picked up Forrest and Tiffany then drove out to Easley where the wedding was to take place at 1o'clock! We arrived in Easley at 12:20, but very unfortunately Chandra had left the wedding invitation in her apartment in Jacksonville. So, we did not know the name of the church, nor its address. All we knew was it was a Presbyterian church in Easley. So we drove around for a while... 1 o'clock came and went. So, we made it our goal to get to the reception. Then, Chandra remembered that the church was down the road in Powdersville. So, we went up and down the Main Streets of Powdersville... But after 2 hours of looking we gave up in hunger and exhaustion... :( So, the moral of the story is: find out what church the wedding is at especially if you are in Greenville area where there is a church on every corner!

I hope we can get her wedding presents to her eventually! Especially since she has moved and changed her phone number so we don't know how to contact her now. :(

Now I am in the library studying for our test tomorrow- so I must go!!! Pictures and a new poll are coming soon- but I must not fail this test. :)
