Grace

My heart is so proud.
My eyes are so unfocused.
I see the things You've done through me
As great things I have done.
And now You gently break me.
I cry just like a baby.
You hold me as my Father,
And mold me as my Maker.

And I ask You
How many times will You pick me up.
When I keep on letting You down?
And each time I will fall short of Your glory,
How far will forgiveness aboud?
And You answer, "My child, I love you,
And as long as you're seeking My face,
You'll walk in the power of My daily sufficient, grace."

At times I may grow weak.
And feel a bit discouraged.
Knowing that someone somewhere
Can do a better job.
For who am I to serve You?
I know, I don't deserve You.
But that's the part, that burns in my heart,
And keeps me hanging on.

And You are so patient with me, Lord.
As I walk with You, I'm learning
About what Your grace really means.
How all of my transgressions
Were paid at Calvary.
So istead of trying to repay You,
I'm learning to simply obey You.
By giving up my life to You
For all that You've given to me.

And I ask You How many times will You pick me up.
When I keep on letting You down?
And each time I will fall short of Your glory,
How far will forgiveness aboud?
And You answer, "My child, I love you,
And as long as you're seeking My face,
You'll walk in the power of My daily sufficient, grace."

Weekend

I am so glad it is the weekend!
Last night, Jen, Miranda, Amanda, and I painted pottery at one of those places where you pick out an object, paint it, and then they glaze and fire it for you. It was lots of fun!
Now, I am trying to fire up some motivation to work on my long list of things to get done this weekend. I have some "saturday blues." I don't really want to do anything, but I really need to!

We got back from Columbia around 8pm last night, then watched the LOST season finale (awesome...a little more suspenseful than I tend to like!) :). So, today I am rather tired... but it was a good day overall. I was able to scrub in some interesting surgeries! I need to get my assignment for lecture tomorrow done before we leave for Bible study in a little bit! I can't wait until the weekend- I have a TON of stuff to do...

Today was a better day.
Yesterday was not-so-good... we had mid-rotation "feedback sessions," and it was the first day on a new service, with new people and new patients to see. But, the people I am working with are nice... and I was in the OR again today- which was fun. However, there are many infected, pus-filled wounds that smell terrible...I had few instances of nausea. Poor people. :(
Tomorrow, we all are going to Columbia tomorrow for a class meeting... so no hospital tomorrow!

new week

tomorrow i start a new week in OB/GYN...for one week I will be doing gynecology/oncology
it should be interesting...and i will get to spend time in the operating room in surgery
however, i am feeling very worn down and exhausted in every way and stressed out
so nothing seems like much fun right now
please pray for joy and endurance that only God can bring
hope you all have a wonderful week!

Sometimes my life seems like its...

...just a pipe dream:

"A fantastic hope that is generally regarded as being nearly impossible. The term derives from the mescaline pipe, which was popular in the early twentieth century. Such ideas usually need events to flow in just the right direction to be realized, as a plumbing pipe might. The probability of such a course, however, is extremely low. Misconceptions, obstacles unseen by the pipe dreamer, or simple ignorance of any issues involved are often disregarded."

one month

It has been a month since I last posted, so I'll try to catch you up to speed...

May 21st or so- I finished my Pediatrics rotation after 2 weeks of call every other night, finishing up with a round of testing... Then, after the last test on Friday, Jen, Miranda, and I drove down to Charleston and spent the afternoon/evening in downtown. Then, on Saturday I went to a conference about women in surgery while they spent time in Charleston. Then, we all went to see a 3D Deep Sea IMAX, it was pretty cool- like the sharks were swimming next to you... The trip was fun...but tiring.

May 24- Started my OB/GYN rotation... the second most difficult rotation after surgery, so they say. Spent the first week on labor and delivery- it was pretty intense. I got to deliver a baby!!! It was fun, exciting, and weird! I was on call that Friday... did Gynecology clinic the next week. It was a little more relaxed and I got a couple of afternoons off for reading. (but I still had to stay around for lectures 4-5pm) Chandra and Jim came down from vacation. They mowed the lawn, cleaned the house- it was awesome!!!! Mom and Dad come the next week.... Miranda moved out for the week and stayed at Jen's house. I got out Friday afternoon and headed to the airport to pick up Luke!!! Spent Friday night with Mom, Dad, Luke, and Forrest. Saturday Forrest graduated from college... the rest of the weekend was great hanging out with them all!!!

Then, Monday came and it was OB clinic time... time to measure bellies and listen to babies' heart beats. Luke left Monday... Jim and Chandra left Tuesday.... Mom, Dad, and Forrest left Wednesday. Tuesday I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO tired... Now it is Friday- had a 4 hour OB/GYN conference this morning and clinic this afternoon. I am still so tired.

Unfortunately, I must be at the hospital at 5:30 tomorrow morning for call and I have an ethics paper to write so I will talk to y'all later.
