Another Week Has Begun

So, the weekend is about over... and just one more week of school until spring break. It is not looking so bad... class goes only until three tomorrow, and the rest of the week we only have 6 more hours of class total. Wait! and then we have a Pharmacology Test on Friday. Maybe this week won't be so easy! (Ok, so I know it won't be easy, in fact, the test will be a killer). Then, I have to write a paper Friday afternoon and pack for you-know-where!

Test Circulation

I have become a study zombie wandering from coffee shop to coffee shop...attempting to learn pathology. Oh yes, this is the life. After spending the morning/afternoon at Panera, I am now at home staring at my pile of pathology handouts sitting on the table, with split pea soup simmering on the stove in the background. Only two weeks of intense study madness before spring break!!! We will make it, then it will be a wonderful vacation before the day comes when it all begins again!

Out of My Bondage

Out of my bondage sorrow and night,
Jesus, I come, Jesus I come.
Into Thy freedom, gladness and light
Jesus, I come to Thee.
Out of my sickness into Thy health,
Out of my want and into Thy wealth,
Out of my sin and into Thy-self
Jesus I come to Thee.
---
Out of my shameful failure and loss,
Jesus I come, Jesus I come;
Into the glorious gain of Thy cross
Jesus, I come to Thee;
Out of earth's sorrows into Thy balm,
Out of life's storms and into Thy calm,
Out of distress to jubilant psalm,
Jesus, I come to Thee.
---
Out of unrest and arrogant pride,
Jesus, I come, Jesus I come;
Into Thy blessed will to abide,
Jesus, I come to Thee;
Out of myself to dwell in Thy love
Out of despair into raptures above,
Upward for aye on the wings like a dove,
Jesus, I come to Thee.
---
Out of the fear and dread of the tomb,
Jesus, I come, Jesus I come;
Into the joy and light of Thy home
,Jesus, I come to Thee;
Out of the depths of ruin untold,
Into the peace of Thy sheltering fold,
Ever Thy glorious face to behold,
Jesus, I come to Thee.

Another week of studying...

We are in the middle of another week of studying... we have another pharmacology test on Wednesday. This time, it is on the kidneys and the endocrine system. I still have a lot of drugs to learn, so the rest of the week will be full of studying (and meetings and class, of course!). The weather is nice here, sunny and in the 70s during the day- too bad I can only enjoy it from the window in front of my desk. Maybe I will go for a walk later with my flashcards- in that case, I had better get back to studying!
Have a great week... and all you med students- study hard. :)

Our Comunity Medicine Solution

We thought we had come up with an original solution for the obesity epidemic-- alas & alack the idea had already been taken by the ACLU. I guess we will have to keep trying! Click on the title to listen.

Kristy, Amanda, Jen, Tabetha, Miranda, Robeson, Ken on the ski trip to Beech! Posted by Hello

It was awesome!

Today I awoke surrouned by the warmth of my covers to the sound of rain on the roof and the feeling of fatigue throughout my body. Still, I gradually succeeded in dragging myself out of bed in order to make it to class at 8. As God's providence would have it, when we arrived, we discovered the power is not working at school today, so class is cancelled!!! I should've slept in! So, it is studying for the rest of day, wrapped in blankets and watching the rain coming down outside.
As I continue to move about, I found more and more muscles that were sore from snowboarding the yesterday. However, the consequences are quite worth the amazing day we had! The slopes were packed powder and we (Kristy, Amanda, Jen, Miranda, Robeson, Ken and I) had a ton of fun! It was a very long day (leaving at 4am, getting back around 10pm), and I am very grateful for the break from class today to recover and try to catch up on studying- now that the body is tired out and the brain is rested!!!
Have a wonderful day! :)

The weekend was fun... we had snow in Greenville Saturday morning and didn't attend the conference since the roads were icy/snowy. So, we spent the day at Jen's house... we played pinochle, Life, and other games and watche a couple of movies. It was very relaxing...
Sunday, church was cancelled but by the afternoon the roads were better- the ice melted away and the sky was blue. We all went out for lunch at Stax Omega- Jen, Miranda, Forrest, Jen's family and grandma... it was delicious.
After dropping off Forrest and picking up Pepper, we headed home to Columbia to start another week of school. The roads were clear and it was an uneventful ride home.
Now, we are in the middle of another week of school. Learning about the intestines and the drugs... tomorrow we have the day off and are going skiing!!! Yea! Should be lots of fun. We have to leave at 4am tomorrow morning.... hope I can wake up!!! I haven't been snowboarding in so long.... I am very excited.
Well, I need to pay attention to this lecture on the stomach...
