First Day of Surgery

Today was my first day of my surgery rotation , and it was ok... we had orientation this morning. Then, I went to surgery clinic and saw a couple of patients/ presented them to the residents. I met Dr. T and he asked a bunch of questions that I didn't know the answers to... saw a couple of EGDs. And, I got to put in a chest tube!!! Yea!!! :)
All in all, the day was fine, although it is VERY stressful to start a new rotation with new people and new expectations.
Now I must learn all about melanomas, gastrojejunostomies, and the levels of the neck, then get to bed so I can be at the hospital by 5am tomorrow!

We ate at checkers for dinner- the food was good, the service was terrible! But we survived and got our food eventually... Posted by Picasa

Hi! I just got back from a lovely evening of studying at Barnes and Noble with Miranda. Now I am heading to bed so I can get a good, long night's rest before another 30 hour 'sleep-over' in the hospital. Seems like I just spent the night there- I guess it was just last Saturday night! It is always interesting- we'll see what kind of patients come in tomorrow. Last time I was on call I was able to do a spinal tap...we'll see what happens. I hope you are having a great week, whoever reads this.

what's going on

Well, I know I haven't been posting much lately, and there really isn't a whole lot to report. I have spending about 70-80 hours a week in the hospital for school ... so, I have been busy and am pretty tired- I am just sleeping, 'working', and studying with church and Bible study whenever possible. I am enjoying my time in the hospital. It is pretty fascinating. Less than two weeks remain in my internal medicine rotation... I have tests next week then I will be moving on to SURGERY (and getting even less sleep!).

I hope everything is going well with all of you! Leave me a note sometime and let me know how you are doing, ok :).
